What OpenWall does
OpenWall organises wallpaper-oriented images with previews, categories, crop and device notes, saved items, related choices, source information and creation-method-labelled OpenWall Originals. Recommendations are based on catalogue metadata and, where requested, items saved in that browser.
The site is not intended to mirror a photo platform or imply that every linked image can be redistributed. If OpenWall has not documented permission to supply an external file through a wallpaper service, the appropriate treatment is a source-only link or removal, not a disguised download.
Source information is not clearance
A source link helps identify where an image came from. A licence label summarises information that still needs to match the exact work and use. Neither is a guarantee, legal opinion or substitute for the creator, exact licence, attribution, modification and redistribution record described in the Source and Claims Methodology.
External platforms can permit ordinary image use while restricting standalone redistribution, competing libraries or wallpaper services. OpenWall does not treat “free”, “royalty-free”, a generic platform licence or a publisher media page as automatic permission.
How OpenWall Originals are produced
The collection includes AI-generated or AI-assisted raster artwork and code-generated vector designs. Each released item states the production method recorded for it. AI-assisted items are labelled so they are not mistaken for documentary photographs or conventionally commissioned photography.
“Original” is the collection name. It does not promise that an output is unique, that copyright exists in every element, or that no similar image exists. AI outputs can contain artifacts, invented details or unintended similarities, so provenance and third-party-rights review remain necessary.
OpenWall Originals carry a non-exclusive personal wallpaper licence. They are not sold with commercial, client, merchandise, redistribution, public-upload, stock-library or model-training rights. The full permitted and prohibited uses are in the Terms of Use.
Wallpaper curation
Curation considers composition, visual clarity, crop flexibility, quiet space for icons, contrast, likely desktop or phone fit, repetition and the quality of the delivered file. These are editorial judgements about usefulness as a background, not customer ratings or proof of popularity.
A screen-fit score, if shown, is labelled as an editorial or catalogue-derived score. Manually selected groups are described as Editor's picks or Featured. OpenWall does not present fabricated visitor ratings, download totals or “trending” claims.
Resolution labels
Native 4K and 4K-sized export are not interchangeable. Native 4K refers to a delivered file with at least 3840 by 2160 pixels in landscape, or 2160 by 3840 in portrait, that was not merely enlarged from a smaller supplied image. A 4K-sized export can be upscaled and is labelled accordingly.
“Original file” is reserved for the verified, unmodified source file. A CDN rendition, recompressed image, crop or fitted canvas is not described as the original. OpenWall measures claims against the file actually offered.
Current commercial and privacy status
Paid sales and voluntary tip payments are disabled until the operator's legal identity and geographic address, payment-recipient details, checkout disclosures, cancellation workflow and durable order confirmation are complete. Optional Google Analytics and Google AdSense are also disabled while controller, provider, transfer, retention and consent details are verified.
This fail-closed status avoids asking visitors to rely on incomplete disclosures. Existing premium-account or order questions can still be raised through the Contact page.
Corrections
Creators, rights holders, platforms and visitors can report an incorrect source, creator, licence, attribution, modification note, AI label, resolution claim or download. A credible rights dispute can cause immediate temporary disablement while it is reviewed.
OpenWall's aim is to make each claim specific enough to check and simple enough to correct. That is more useful than a broad “safe” or “cleared” assurance that the evidence cannot support.
